Depart from your hometown Amtrak Station and travel on Amtrak’s Keystone Service to Philadelphia’s 30th Street Station. Upon arrival take the escalator up to the main level of the station. Walk towards the far right corner, following the signs to SEPTA (Philadelphia’s transit system).
When you reach the SEPTA area, look at the train schedule board to find the next train that is heading to Center City. When you board the train, show your Amtrak ticket to the conductor for a free ride to Suburban Station, the very next stop, where you’ll be in the heart of what is known as the Parkway Museums section of Philadelphia. From Suburban Station, simply walk 3 blocks to 222 North 20th Street where you’ll see the front doors of The Franklin Institute. Enjoy your day at the Museum and all it has to offer including an IMAX Theatre, the Planetarium and Franklin Theatre.
When you’re ready to return home, simply return to Suburban Station and take any SEPTA train heading back to 30th Street Station where you will catch the train back to your departure station.
*Both Amtrak paper tickets and e-Tickets, purchased for the same date of travel and presented for inspection, will be accepted as a fare to ride on Regional Rail trains between 30th Street Station and Market East Station. Customers with e-Ticket confirmations should present their personal device (iPad, laptop computer, smart phone, etc.) to the SEPTA Conductor for visual confirmation of the Amtrak fare.
